Carrington JAM 1.3

Carrington JAM (Just Add Markup), our theme skeleton for use in creating your own theme based on the Carrington framework, has been updated to version 1.3. This updates Carrington JAM to version 2.5 of the Carrington Core and includes updated documentation.

Carrington JAM (Just Add Markup) 1.2.1

We accidentally mis-packaged Carrington JAM 1.2, leaving out the README files in each directory. Oops!!

This has been rectified with version 1.2.1 – grab it from the themes page.

Also, the documentation is always available on the Crowd Favorite web site and in the public SVN repository on Google Code.

Carrington Blog 2.1

Version 2.1 of Carrington Blog is a patch release to address a couple of compatibility issues with WordPress 2.8.

Here are the changes of note:

Made the lightbox gallery feature compatible with WordPress 2.8 (specifically, with the included jQuery 1.3).
Reduce the size of some included images.
Removed page template names from page templates in the pages/ directory due to a bug in WordPress 2.8 that would show them as selectable but would not use them.
Updated to Carrington Core 2.4.
A patch for backward compatibility with older versions of WordPress.

Carrington JAM, our theme to allow designers and developers to get a jump-start using the Carrington framework, has been updated to version 1.2. This release updates JAM to Carrington Core 2.4.

The download is available on the themes page.

Most of the themes in our showcase started with Carrington JAM.

Steve Souders on Performance

At WordCamp SF Steve Souders gave a great talk about how to optimize your web site for better performance. He used a standard WordPress installation with Carrington Blog 1.3 for the demonstration.

In his presentation, Steve outlined a number of things that could be changed with the Carrington Blog theme to improve site load time. It’s unfortunate that Steve was using version 1.3 of this theme as most of the changes he recommends were already addressed in Carrington Blog 2.0, however there were a few things that we’ve been able to improve based on his notes.

We’ll have these enhancements included in a maintenance release of Carrington Blog in the near future (or grab them from the public SVN anytime).

Carrington Mobile 1.0.2

A new version of Carrington Mobile is now available, fixing an errant image reference and adding Palm Pre support. The preview has been updated accordingly.
